Marves -Nusa Dua, November 13, 2022 – The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health work hand-in- hand to carry out technological innovations in the health sector to encourage state budget efficiency. One of them is through the Hackathon 2022 Competition.
The Finance and Health Hackathon 2022 Competition is an event to find the best digital innovation on public services in health, financing, partnerships, and data utilization, as well as dissemination of activities of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency 2022.
"In the digital technology era, data can be collected at any time. We must utilize this diverse data to produce more accurate policies," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati during the announcement of the winners of the Final and Health Hackathon 2022, Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022.
Through this competition, the strengthening of human capital was carried out through data and application classes which were attended by 3,382 people, around 77% of which were state civil servants (ASN). Other participants were employees of state-owned enterprises (BUMN), the private sector, academics, and students.
A total of 647 teams took part in the competition, 110 eligible proposals out of more than 200 submitted ones. Next, 10 finalists were selected, both individual and groups. This competition was divided into two categories, data and analytics.
This competition was aimed at creating cutting edge technological innovations in the health sector, including addressing tuberculosis (TBC), pregnancy problems, etc.
Sri Mulyani hoped that there would be technological innovations to identify the number of TB sufferers who have put up with and completed treatment for up to 9 months in a discipline manner. Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest and worst TB sufferers in the world. For pregnant women, technological innovation to ensure their health is very necessary because it has impacts on stunting cases.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin added that the budget support in the health sector is very substantial. America, for example, budgets around $11,000 per capita per year., Singapore at$2,860 per capita per year., and Indonesia around $112 per capita per year. This figure will continuously rise if the government is unable to exercise budget efficiency.
"Problems related to health in Indonesia are still not transparent, both from the industry and the education sides. Breakthrough and transformation are necessary to save the budget in the future," said Budi.
Besides these two ministries, the institutions involved include the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, and others. Digitalization in various sectors is an inevitable necessity, in line with Indonesia's digital transformation concern in the G20 Presidency to improve food security, health, and finance.
