Marves -Nusa Dua, November 13, 2022 – Towards the pinnacle of the G20 Summit, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) prepares an evacuation procedure in the event of a disturbance or emergency condition for the heads of delegations from The Apurva Kempinski Bali by sea. Fourteen warships and Indonesian Navy transport ships are on standby around Bali.

"In the event of a disturbance on land, such as a natural disaster, we can escape by sea. We have made the preparation, just in case," said Commander of the Second Fleet Command, Rear Admiral T.S.N.B. Hutabarat, aboard the KRI Surabaya, in Benoa, Bali, Sunday, Nov. 13.

According to T.N.S.B. Hutabarat, also known as Cokky Hutabarat, the Indonesian Navy has prepared itself to face all possibilities in the G20. Some exercises have been performed, including the operational readiness exercises.

"Our preparations have been made long before the G20 Summit takes place," said Cokky.

The preparations also included deploying TNI AL troops in Surabaya, East Java, last week. The operation was led directly by the Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono.

Marine Task Force deputy commander First Admiral Deny Prasetyo added that three ships are on standby to evacuate VVIP delegates and guests. The ships include KRI Surabaya, KRI Wahidin Sudirohusodo, and KRI Teluk Banten.

As mentioned above, fourteen ships are hot to trot to ensure the security of the G20 Summit in Bali. An entire troop of more than 3,000 personnel consisting of ship crews, marines, and an elite team of frogmen is also ready. In addition to internal strength, the Indonesian Navy coordinates and cooperates with other institutions, especially in gathering and exchanging information regarding maritime security. The affiliated institutions include the Indonesian Armed Forces Headquarter, the National Police, the Customs and Excise Office, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, General Andika Perkasa, leads the security efforts of the marine area around Bali. He ensures the overall safety of the G20 Summit location.

In addition to the fourteen warships in the marine sector, fifteen helicopters, two F16 fighter aircraft, and two Sukhoi aircraft are also on alert to secure the G20 Summit. In total, there is more than eighteen thousand personnel involved.
