Joe Biden: The US Ready to Work Together for Better World

MarvesNusa Dua, November 15, 2022 – One day prior to the G20 Summit, President Joe Biden expressed the United States' readiness to work with world leaders in strengthening the foundation of a better global economy.

According to Biden, the G20 meeting will discuss various important issues currently being faced by the world that have an impact on the lives of global citizens.

“That means overcoming the suffering caused by Russian aggression, not only for Ukraine but also for the world community, especially the food crisis also other issues, such as debt relief support and investment for global security and health," he said at a press conference at the Hyatt Hotel, Nusa Dua Bali, Monday (14/11/2022).He said the G20 Summit is a strategic forum for the world's largest economies to work together for the good of the global community and ensure the world is better prepared to face the threat of pandemics in the future.

Before Indonesia, Biden visited Egypt on November 11, 2022. He then attended the annual US- ASEAN Summit in Cambodia on November 12—13, 2022. During the two meetings, Biden also iterated on the United States' commitment to working with other countries in facing current global challenges.

“Let me speak briefly about our agenda over the past few days in Egypt, Cambodia, and here in Indonesia. In this moment of great global challenges, from global inflation to the climate crisis, to Russia's brutal war against Ukraine, we are bringing together the broadest possible coalition of partners to deliver results," he said.

He explained that at the Conference of the Parties 27 (COP27) in Egypt, the US was advancing energy security at home and around the world to overcome the climate crisis and meet emission targets under the Paris Agreement.

Furthermore, while attending the US-ASEAN Summit, he again expressed his commitment to cooperating with partner countries of the US to help create a free, open, and secure region.

"I met with our allies from Australia, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, underscoring our commitment to strengthen cooperation among our allies to meet shared threats," Biden said.

In addition, he also met face-to-face and had an open dialogue with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Both had a mutual understanding to work together to advance human rights and defend the international order.

“We are going to compete vigorously, but I am not looking for conflict. I would like to manage this competition responsibly. And I want to make sure that every country abides by international rules," he concluded.
