Digital Transformation Maximizes Various Sectors Performance

MarvesNusa Dua, November 14, 2022 - The development of digital transformation in Indonesia boosts performance efficiency in various sectors. Such efficiency is considered to suppress chances for corruption, holes in the bureaucratic system, and cost burden. Hence, Indonesia comes to an agreement to support the acceleration for digital transformation, besides global health, and energy transition in three pillars of the G20 Summit, Bali.

The Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that the outcome from the efficiency has impact towards rising income and growing local industries. Digital transformation creates a kind of integrated system such as Inter- Ministries/Institutions Information System of Mineral and Coal (Simbara).

“The Government spending is conducted in electronic catalogue (e-catalog) prioritizing in buying local products. In natural resources sector, data management of all minerals and coal in Indonesia, are also integrated with Simbara in the shape of PNBP’s monitoring application and Minerals and Coal (Minerba) commerce order” stated Luhut in a Summit Panel Discussion with theme of Sustainable Resource Management for Economic Growth, in B20 Summit Indonesia 2022 held in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Sunday (13/11/2022).

Other speakers are Chairperson and Founder of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), a big company producing lithium-ion battery from China Zen Yuqun, along with Chairperson and Founder of Fortescue Future Industries and Fortescue Metals Group Andrew Forrrest.

Luhut added that efficiency is currently experiencing spread in the port business sector, following creation of ports integration and application of national logistics ecosystem. He went on to say that Indonesia is investing in data center and undersea cable to support digital economy in Indonesia.

Digital platform enriches natural resources

In other part of his presentation, Luhut reveals that Indonesia is a country which is rich of natural resources. There are no many countries as lucky as Indonesia. One of the biggest natural richness owned by Indonesia is nickel that is the raw material for lithium battery. Even, Indonesia is the largest nickel producer in the world. For such natural resources, the Indonesian Government has made new policy, in which export of raw materials is no longer allowed,

 

but it must gain value added domestically from all owned natural resources. Hence, Indonesia will also gain benefit and huge profit from its own natural resources.

Digitalization encourages effectiveness in which mining operator has to move forward, not only adopting technology and permanent green approach. Luhut explained that digital technology which optimizes resources can decrease lavish in all operational activities, and further has widely positive impact to other industries.

Raw materials such as lithium and nickel are needed to produce battery for electric vehicle or fuel cell. Steel and copper are utilized for facilitating infrastructure development that manages energy generator and distribution.

“We no longer want our materials dug and brought abroad. If you get profit, we get profit as well. In the next 20 years, you will see totally different Indonesia” stressed Luhut.

In the same line, Indonesia is now preparing human resources via polytechnic education. The younger generation is expected to give added value domestically over all owned natural resources. “Twenty years later, you will see totally different Indonesia”, said Luhut convincingly.

In connection with that, Luhut asked businessmen attending the B20 Summit Indonesia 2022 to look at Indonesia differently compared to decades ago. He also requested the attendees to invest in Indonesia, including to produce lithium battery.

In the same tone, Andrew Forrest recognized that Indonesia is a big country with full of bless as it owns rich natural resources. “I tell to every Indonesian. You are blessed. You are rich of natural resources”
